First, I want to thank you for reading. It means so much to me. I hope you are enjoying these blog posts and learning something along the way.
We are now to the 3rd way to show yourself some love and this one may be the most challenging, but I could argue the most important.

The 3rd way or habit that will elevate your self-love practice is drum roll please…
Keep Promises to Yourself.
Sounds simple enough, right? But I want to dive deeper into what this really means.
In this series, we have been talking about goals, the things we set out to accomplish in the New Year or “promises” we made to ourselves.
I’m going to go to the gym.
I’m going to eat healthier.
I’m going to turn off my phone 30 minutes before bed.
I’m going to start a meditation practice.
I’m going to read more.
Whatever the goal or promise is, how are you doing with it?
We tend to over promise and under deliver to only one person in our lives, some may argue the most important person in our lives…and that’s ourselves. We say to ourselves we will do this thing, or start that, or we won’t stay late at work this time or we won’t grab that energy drink or we will prioritize our health but then what happens?
We break that promise.
We work through lunch. We say we’ll start tomorrow or next week, or when things slow down. We plan to go for a walk but it’s too cold, or our back is sore, or we didn’t get much sleep, or <insert excuse here> so we put it off for another day.
Keeping a promise to ourselves is the number one thing we can do right now to improve our self love, self worth, confidence and overall well-being.
Just start with one thing. One small thing that we can promise we will do for ourselves.
Make a plan and stick to it.
Don’t pause, don’t think, just start.
Do you want a better night’s sleep? Move your phone charger across the room and plug your phone in there prior to going in to brush your teeth and wash your face. Don’t grab the phone to scroll before bed.
Because guess what…it will all still be there tomorrow for your scrolling delight. Or new stuff will be there and you won’t even miss the other things that were available last night. The news will still be there. Your texts will still be there. BUT you gave your mind and body a chance to relax and unplug before bed.
Do you want to move more during the day? Set an alarm on your phone <insert time here> and get up and move for 10 minutes when that alarm goes off. Walk around the house, the yard, your block. Don’t hit snooze, don’t pause, just get up and go.
Do you want to meditate? Just start. You don’t need a special place or time!! You just need to sit or lie down, close your eyes and spend some time with your thoughts. Try it for 5 minutes. See what happens. Try it again tomorrow for 5 minutes.
Commit today. Don’t break promises to yourself anymore. Start small and see how your love yourself will grow.
Until next time. Take good care of yourself.
